Hi Naomi, Thanks for your message about John Vasbinder.I haven't had the time to go to the Orange County Fed building to search more on census data.I did try to find the Vasbinder name in North Carolina, but did not have any luck.It took such a long time since I had no idea which county, etc. to start looking, or what year.I had to look through every county. Not all the names are in alphabetical order. The first ones had an order about them, but I haven't figured what that order is.I searched 1790 and 1810.I know that Pennsylvania had early Vasbinders and I looked at some census data on line from that state. But, I didn't know enough at that time to understand who I was looking at.As soon as I started searching this part of my family I got very busy with my business and have not been able to follow through as I would like. Ohio bacame a state in 1803.I am assuming there was no official census for that state until 1810.Is that when you started your search for Vasbinders in that state? The obituary that I have said John's father was in that territory during the revolutionary war.Do you know anything about that?Have you lookied at the census in Indiana that gives John Vasbinder's father name or his mother's name?John's wife was Rachel Cooper.I don't know the names of Rachel Cooper's mother and father. My Mom (Edward Vasbinder's daughter) says she never knew anything about her grandparent's people. She only remembers seeing John Vasbinder a couple times. She was 4 years old the last time she saw him. There were a ton of aunts, uncles and cousins so she never thought too much about what she calls "people back in history".Mom is named after Rachel Cooper Vasbinder. Mom is Mary Rachel.
What branch of the family are you from?? Who was your father, grandfather and great grandfather??I noticed your maiden name is Vasbinder.
