It’s been a while since I last caught the genealogy bug as I have been overseas in the Middle East for the past five years.Someday, I may retire, but in the meantime, I want to explore an idea with you.
As we all know Giles V. was an indentured to a Mr. Green back in 1696, but before that time period we have all drawn a blank in Giles background. That is unless somebody has made a major discovery that I do not know about.
Therefore, I have been wondering if anybody has ever done any research on the other young men who are mentioned in the court records as being indentured at the same time as young Giles? The reason is that perhaps, just maybe, these young men all came from the same area as Giles and that family researchers of those other young men have had better luck than we have had with Giles in locating their original home.If there is a common thread going thru the background of these other young men, then perhaps it will give us an idea as to where young Giles may have come.Does anybody have thoughts on this subject?
Secondly, the rumor mill also has it that Giles V. was of Huguenot descent and came from Wales, but again this is not substantiated by any documents that I know. However, there may be some truth in these stories. Therefore, has anybody done any research on the French Huguenots in Wales?I am thinking that if there are any old Huguenot records in Wales, then perhaps we can concentrate on those records or area for a possible lead.
Any information or thoughts on either of the above ideas will be appreciated. As mentioned, one of these days I’ll get out of this sandbox and have some time to devote to the subject.A vacation in Wales is a definite possibility.
If anybody wants to explore these ideas off line then please feel free to contact me at one of the following email addresses.
