I have a Dorothy Vernon, b. about 1561 in Cheshire, (I've seen both Haslington and Betley), daughter of Thomas Vernon b. 1520 in Haslington, and Dorothy Egerton.
Dorothy married William Browning, b.1558 in Malden, Essex. They had a son Malachi b. 1601 in Malden who emmigrated to Massachusetts about 1640, and lived first in Boston and then in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard.
Malachi's father William died in England in 1635, several years prior to the likely date of Malachi's emmigration. A great number of trees have his mother Dorothy dying in Plymouth Mass. I suspect this is one of those internet-spread mistakes since she would have been nearly 80 when Malachi left, there is information about Malachi in both Boston and Martha's Vineyard, none of which indicates his mother was with him, and he never lived in Plymouth anyway.
I did find one tree, I've since lost, that said Dorothy died in England in 1606.Can anyone verify that, or provide an explanation of how she wound up in Plymouth in the unlikely event that is true?
