My research about the father of all Vintons in the US as claimed by John Adams Vinton in 1858 in "The Vinton Memorial" has turned up some interesting information and left one big question. I believe that he was born in Alderlry, Cheshire, England in 1620. I am led to this conclusion by two genealogical websites and circumstansial evidence relating his trade in the Colonies as a finer at the Hammmersmith Iron Works on the Saugas River at Lynn MA. Cheshire, England was also an iron producing region at the time.
John Winthrop, the younger, is known to have brought over four Englishmen around 1645/46 to start up the Iron Warks at Lynn. I don't know if John Vinton is mentioned by name in the "Winthrop Papers".
The Connecticut Vital Statistics for 1664 show that John and Ann W(V)inton both died on August 3, 1664 in the New Haven Colony (now CT). I have searched the records of the East Haven and New Haven, CT historical societies to determine their cause of death to no avail.
I would like to hear from anyone who can confirm or deny John's birthplace, his arrival in the Massachusetts colony and his and Ann's cause of death.
