I have been researching the Perry Family ,George married my great grandmother Mary Vivian from Sturminster Newton in Dorset. She was born in Haselbury, Bryan in 1848. Her siblings were Alfred, Sarah Ann, Hannah,Elizabeth, Rose Jackson. I have a photograph of Rose and Elizabeth standing at the backdoor of their house in Bournemouth where they settled in later life I think during the 1920/30's.Both their marriages were unhappy ones.I know that Rose was a servant for Samuel Downing at the rectory in Sutton Waldron and that Elizabeth was a seamstrees in Bridge street, from the 1881 Census.None of the family followed Mary to Salt Lake City with the L.D.S.in 1882. Mary seems to have been a very strong matriachal character. My mother as a child was quite frightened of her as she was so Victorian. Mum passed away in December aged 85. Mary was instrumental in their return from SLC in 1889 because of her husband, George's wandering eye for an ex girlfriend and also he had difficulty in getting work. He was a boilermaker by trade. They had several run ins with the local native American tribe where they settled in Green River, Utah, before it was the big town it is now.Maryand George took Ethel 7, ALfred(George)2 and Lucy -1 with them to Salt Lake City. Alfred died on the boat on the way aged two.Henry(uncle Vivvy) was born in Salt lake City in 1883 and Rose Estella (my Grandmother) was born in Green River in 1886. If you can fill me in on any information of relatives still living or infoabout the family I would be most grateful. If you would like me to email you a copy of Elizabeth and Rose I will be glad to do so.
