Eric,
Thanks for the info.
I had seen Mary Purdy's name and age listed in the 1870 census record for Jacob's household and guessed that she was his mother-in-law, but didn't have confirmation.
I had also seen the birth record for George Von Tish (dob 11/21/1860).The Family Search website also came up with yet another child of Jacob Von Tish, an unnamed male born on 02Nov1858 in Newark. No mother's name is listed on the Individual Genealogical Index record.
It seems likely that George and the unnamed male died in childhood as they don't turn up in the 1870 census for the household. The fact that the male child born on 02Nov1858 wasn't named might indicate that he died as an infant. So, with William, John Jacob, Mary, George, and the unnamed Male, that makes five children born to Elizabeth.
Jacob's wife Elizabeth shows up as "Elisabeth" Von Tishin the 1900 census. She is listed as the mother-in-lawthe household of Edward Lambert along with 'Lizzie'.Lizzie's age/birthyear match that of Jacob & Elizabeth's daughter Mary. Not sure why she is listed as 'Lizzie' on the census form.Interestingly, it shows that Elisabeth gave birth to 6 children, 3 of which were still living. So, there is one more child of Jacob and Elizabeth that we don't yet have info on.
I have been looking into genealogical info on my forebearers on and off for the last year or so.I will contact you if I come up with anything new.
Thank you for the information on the Purdy link.
Best Wishes for the New Year
