Like Sherry, I also suspect that George b. 1802 is the son of William Voss, among the original settlers of Lawrence County, Tennessee.William Voss' will is recorded in Lawrence County and I am attempting to get a copy.
In Lawrence County, Tennessee, George Voss was on the 1826 Tax List.
In Lawrence County, Tennessee, I find a January 8, 1832 marriage for George Voss and "Polly" Henderson. However, as you can see, some of the children above were born prior to 1832.George Voss may have had a first wife...or the Voss-Henderson union may have been recorded much later than their marriage.
We have not yet located George and Mary Henderson Voss on any 1840 census, but that is my next objective.
P.S.Virginia, I am very interested to have a complete list of Voss-Yates descendants.
