In the 19th century at least four siblings from a Voss family from a town called Schmolde, in the region of Ostprignitz, now Ostprignitz-Ruppin, in the northwest part of Brandenburg, Germany (northwest of Berlin) came to the US and eventually settled in Walworth County.Below are the four siblings:
1) Ernest Voss (1838-1902) who died in Lake Geneva, but lived in Elkhorn, and was buried at Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn, Walworth Co., WI. Earnest had a son August Voss (1864-1895) who married Francis Warning. August Voss's children were Frederick E. born 1886, Edith born 1888, Rose born 1889, and Louise born 1890. Earnest also had a daughter Frieda Dorothy (Frederica) who married Andrew McGraw of Lake Geneva.
2) John H. Voss (1835-1913), buried at Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn, Walworth Co., WI. John H. Voss married Sarah Pridmore in 1861 in New York State before settling in Elkhorn. John H. Voss had a son John Frederick Voss (1863-1926)
3) August Voss (1833-1896), buried at Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn, Walworth Co., WI. August and his wife Marie had a son John G. Voss (1872-1959).
4) Henriette Caroline Voss who was married to Christopher Gehrand and lived in Layfayette township, Walworth County.
