Nola,
Thanks again for all the information and the sources. A great help. I did some original research back in the early 1980's when I was working near a Federal Records Center and had immediate access to census records. Only just now getting back into trying to close some gaps.. I think you've provided the sources to confirm Mrs LeBlanc's suspicion that the Thomas Wafer who m.Elizabeth Laughlin in 1820 were cousins. I want to get with you re: John Laughlin and his parents information you listed, which we can hopefully discuss via email later. My EMAIL address is [email protected] . (Please put something in the "subject" line in the EMAIL address, so I don't accidentally delete it...I get alot of junk).
Unfortunately all I have specific relating to Sarah Elder is b. 5/22/1795 Livingston Co. Kentucky m.to James Wafer 3/02/1815, d. 7/11/1847 in Bond Co. ILL. Had eight children , first two born KY others ILL. ...I welcome further personal EMAIL discussion, as I think the oral/written traditions of what the Wafer family was doing probably applies to the Laughlins as to why they ended up in Bond Co ILL....and vis a versa...
Work has me traveling, so it may be a couple weeks or two before I can get back and dig into this again...
All the best in 2006
Jim Laughlin
