Thanks for your reply. My mother's maiden name is Barbara Wager b 1918. Her father, Christopher, was one of the 8 surviving children of George Wager and (Jane) Annabelle James (she was from Wales). George was a manufacturer of whalebone corsets! Their children were Alfred, Arthur, Jessie, Amy, Rhoda, Christopher, Dorothy, Frederick. Christopher was a choirboy at St Mary's, Redlands, Bristol. In his teens he joined the cable service and trained as a telegraphist and was later sent to Fiji. He married an Australian, Winifred Rock and moved to Australia in about 1920. Other descendents of George and Jane Annabelle through Arthur, one of whom is another George, have lived in Kettering since the 19th C. They do not have much information either! We have a photo of George senior's father in middle age, no name but described as a farmer from the north of England. This makes it hard to find connections. Christopher has numerous descendents in Australia.
