My Waghorns were blacksmiths in Lamberhurst, a little way from East Peckham, I know, but perhaps there is a connection.
My Grandfather William Waghorn was born in the Old Brewery and Hayes on 4 April 1875.
He was the son of George Waghorn b 12 Mar 1848 Lamberhurst Harriet Anna CLIFTON b 13 July 1851 Crockhurst Street, Tudely
George was the son of James Waghorn b 1820 Lamberhurst Sarah GLAZIER b 1819 Lamberhurst
The last relationship I got from the 1881 Censue but may be incorrect because the 1881 Census gives his age as 31 (though I have not yet looked at the original). The IGI further shows the baptism of a James Waghorn at Lamberhurst in 1818. If the 1881 Census ages are doubtful then this could be George's father. I wonder how many little Waghorns were running round Lamberhurst at that time.
Please let me know if any of these names and places are familiar.
