I strongly suspect the LDS site has picked up my own previous RootsWeb and Ancestry entries over the years.
LDS seems to pick up, and record forever, whatever is found 'online' or whatever LDS members report, without concern for sources.
My problem continues to be that the Elisha Wakefield who was the son of Samuel married a woman different from the one listed in the Wakefield book.
In my own online RootsWeb entries, going back some 15 years now, I've made it clear that I'm only making an educated guess, but have no firm evidence (which would presumably come from Washington County, Maine) that the two Elishas are one and the same individual.
Of course, it seems to be highly unlikely, at that place and time, that there would be two different people, both with the same name and approximate date of birth, living in the more or less same place -- then a rather remote area.
Unfortunately, given that LDS doesn't provide sources other than the raw entries of members, I have to assume that their listings are reports, echoes, of my own database coming back to me.
