I came across your 2001 posting whilst do a bit of research on Epping as Wakeling was my mother's maiden name. No-one from our family has researched the Wakeling side of the family and my desire to do so is a path paved with good intentions! Maybe this is the turning point!
My grandfather was Andrew Wakelin (also known as Arthur and Uncle 'Pam!?) who was probably born in 1890 but definitely married in 1914 to Hettie? Pavitt followed shortly by the birth of my mother May in August 1914. Another daughter arrived in 1922, my Aunt Joyce but in fact her first name, which she hated and never used, is Winifred.
May married Ken Lacey in August 1940 and I, their only offspring, arrived in August 1946. Joyce married Harold Wren roundabout the same early stage of the War and my cousin Peter was born in 1943 and Brian in 1948(or 9?). Joyce is the sole survivor but is in a residential home in Cambridgeshire suffering from dementia. Both Ken and Harold came from Potter Street, now part of Harlow, and were schoolboy friends.
Mum had two Aunts, one married and one not, who were Goodchilds, and I would be interested to know if there is an Epping connection there. In fact I would be interested in any links to Mum,s family on both the Wakeling and Pavitt side.
