Earlier this month we started a Waldrop DNA project. Our hope is to gather enough participants to prove the work of serious Waldrop genealogy researchers correct.
Scientists have discovered that a Y chromozome passes from male to male unchanged through each generation. The Waldrop males of today have the same Y chromozome that their male immigrant ancestor had.The DNA test will detect it.
Until now, we have looked at river systems and land grants to determine probable kinships.Records burned during the Revolution and the Civil War have produced several "dead ends" that will never be resolved.
We have four participants at this writing. One is from Samuel, who died in Louisa Co., VA; one from Old Luke of Hanover, VA; and two from John, who appeared in Amelia Co., VA.We have the results of one test and are anxiously awaiting the results of the other three.
If you know of a MALE Waldrop descendant willing to participate in this project, please respond for more information. Please remember, the participant has to be a male descendant (son of a son of a son, etc.).The son of a Waldrop daughter does not qualify.
