Carol,
Sounds like you are a distant cousin.I have found a y-chromosome DNA test helpful in proving or disproving the paper trail for my Wilson family. It was very surprising. If you can get one of your Ohio male Walke cousins to take the test, it may help.I've done the FamilyTreeMaker version for the y-chromosome and the Genographic Project version for the mitochondrial DNA (female side).
Henry Walke was an excellent artist.I bought a lithograph of his Napha from the Sea.My great grandmother Walke was an excellent artist too.
Eventually you may want to look into the Robertson part of the Walke ancestry.I've seen evidence that shows that the owner of Physic Hill was a cousin of Robert E. Lee's grandmother.
The landed families in VA tended to intermarry a lot.If you are related to one of them, the connections can be very entertaining.
That would be a tie to http://www.shirleyplantation.com/shirley%27s_history.htmlhttp://www.shirleyplantation.com/shirley%27s_history.html .Shirley was guarded by the US Navy during the Civil War because senior officers were related to the owners.I don't know which officer ordered the protection. Most other grand houses on the James River were looted and burned to the ground by Union troops.
Have Fun!
