Merryanne, you mentioned: "I found the 1761 service in the order book." What order book?
This may clarify DAR credit: The Family History Book of Some of the Descendants of Sylvanus Walker of New Kent co VA (Robert Alvin Walker, 1973)
"On October 13, 1972, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution approved National #571684, which was the application of Margaret Jane Smith Collier, and which showed her descent from Sylvanus Walker (III). This gave him credit for the Revolutionary Service, and also the credit for being a Member of the Virginia House of Delegates, which had previously been credited to Sylvanus Walker (II)."
[ In this work, these persons are distinguished: Sylvanus Walker (II) - b 1718, son of Sylvanus Walker (I) & Anne Tandy Sylvanus Walker (III) - son of Tandy Walker & Judith ___
The service referred to was in 1780-81. ]
These records may clarify when Sylvanus Walker (III) was born: (Lunenburg co VA Court Order Book 2 1/2B, 1753-54) 1754, February Court.Silvanus WALKER orphan of Tandy WALKER, Dec'd. came into court and (being of lawful age for that purpose) made choice of MEMUCAN HUNT to be his guardian who is accordingly appointed (he giving security) whereupon he together with Thomas Anderson his security, entered into & acknowledged their bond and that purpose.

LUNENBURG CO. VA. DEED BOOK 6:107/109. 1760, 2 Apr. or 3 June.Silvanus WALKER Jr. of Lunenburg Co. to Charles Allen of same; 25 lbs. for 200 acres on north side of Stanton River.
In Feb 1754, Sylvanus (still a minor) chooses his own guardian, Memucan Hunt. Legal age for this act, was age 14. In Dec 1759, Memucan still signs as guardian (though it seems he is preparing for Sylvanus to become independent, age 21). By Apr 1760, Sylvanus is buying and selling land, in his own right. Therefore, he was b ~1739, perhaps Dec 1738.
