Walkerdines of Staffordshire
Dear Sue
I am intrigued by your query as I have Walkedine relatives which are hard to sort out!
Have you searched the FamilySearch.org site? Several of the people you mention are listed eg there is a record of Joseph Walkerdine and Mary Middleton having a Sampson Walkerdine christened at Bathesda Chapel Albion St Shelton Stoke on Trent (1815) and Joseph Walkerdine and Anna Maria Mason having George Walkerdine in 1833 same chapel.
A Joseph and Maria had Joseph 1836 and William 1835 but christened at St John Burslem - so it seems unlikely they were the same family. Also A Joseph and Mary has Enoch in 1818 also St John Burslem could be the same?
A Joseph Walkerdine (bricklayer)appears in the UK 1841 census aged 75 living with Mary aged 60 in Burslem whilst Anna Maria Mason turns up in a lunatic asylum in Tamworth!I have reason to believe Joseph and Mary were married in Trentham in 1803 but I've mislaid the reference.
I would be very pleased to hear from you.
Regards
Mike Statham
