Hello Mary, Very interesting… - your Samuel WALKEY, born 15 Jan 1829 in St. Austell, son of Samuel WALKEY and Maria MARTIN - my Samuel WALKEY, bapt 11 Jan 1829 in Kilkhampton, son of George WALKEY & Elizabeth GALSWORTHY
It appears that our two Samuels have different parents; however, Kilkhampton is about 40 miles NNE of St. Austell, so we may share a common ancestor further back.
You may already know this, but there was a William WALKEY, born abt 1823/24 in St. Austell; married Mary Ann UNKNOWN and had 2 children listed in the 1851 census (Emma WALKEY, born 1849 and William, born abt 1850).If William is the same person as William Bunt WALKEY, bapt 14-Jun-1824 in St. Austell, s/o John WALKEY & Catherine then he is not a brother to your Samuel but he may be a cousin.William's father might be the John WALKEY who was bapt 17-May-1795 in St. Austell, s/o John WALKEY & Mary and William's grandfather might be John WALKEY, bapt 24-Jul-1763 in St. Austell, s/o Joseph WALKEY & Jane (from preliminary looks into the IGI).
It is unclear whether these WALKEYs are part of your direct line or not; however it appears that a clan of WALKEYs were well established in St. Austell.Have you looked at the parish record films at your local LDS?There frequently are some details on the film that are not in the IGI.
By the way, how did you discover Maria MARTIN's surname? Gerry
