Sorry, I hit the wrong key, just as I was bout to list the children of the Frederick Wallen, born 1839 in England.
Hannah Wallen born 1861 Geo. Wallen born 1862 William Wallen born 1864 Fred Wallen born 1865 Libby Wallen born 1868 Harry Wallen born 1870 Clara Wallen born 1873 Clarence Wallen born 1876 Mabel Wallen born 1878
I'm only guessing, but I'd bet that his wife died giving birth to Mabel in 1878.
There is another possibility for your immigrant ancestor. In Ward 16, New York City, was a Jonah Wallen, a "Builder," also born in England, and his wife Mary. They had a son, Frederick, born in 1845, who would have been 41, in 1886, and could have been the father of Frederick J., the father of William.Mary would have only been 39, in 1886, still of childbearing age.I preferred the Frederick, 1839, because of the Albany Location.I'll leave the detective work to you.I haven't found anyone else, on any of the sites, who is researching either of these families.
None of these people are related to me.I was just bored and tired of banging against my own genealogical Brick Walls.
Your best source of records is Ancestry.com, Rootsweb.com and the LDS site, familysearch.org.Rootsweb and family search are free sites.Ancestry definitely is not free.
