I am at a brick wall here. I had an uncle who told me that his grandpa was John H Walls who married Mary Frances Coker and that his g grandpa was John Walls who married May Hawkins. I find them on the 1850 census in Shelby County Alabama but then I loose John and May. John H and Mary Frances came to Faulkner county, Arkansas where my grandmother Nissie Mae Ruth was born. Here is my question, Is the John C Walls b.1829 S C and who married Mary Hopkins b 1830 who was also in Shelby county in 1850 but the census was taken in about 5 weeks apart. Could this be the one and same person? Here is the have comparison: 1850 Census Shelby Co Al 1.Census taken:31 Oct 18502. Census taken 8 Dec 1850 1. John Walls Born 1829 SC2. John Walls Born 1827 SC 1a Mary Hopkins Born 1830 SC 2a. May Hawkins Born 1829 SC In the 1870 census 1. John 1828 SC 1a. Mary 1828 SCCannot Find
I cannot find a Marriage on either of one of these. The name of Mary and May are really similar in so many ways. So is this the same person but name wrote down twice on 1850 census? What would you say. Can you help me?
