Hi all. I am very new to all this stuff, but I can see how people get hooked on it. I made a possible connection tonight, and even if it not true, boy what a rush it is!
Anyway, George Jacob had a son (also George) b. 1800 in Bedford Cty. He married Mary Magdelena HARCLERODE and had many children, one of which was also named Geroge. I think this last George is my ggGrandfather. I have no "paper trail", just a feeling and some circumstantial evidence, as follows:
My grandfathers cousin has a family bible (that his father brought from PA to MO) with a list of births to a George and Mary (nee Myers) Waltman starting in 1862 thru 1887. Among the sons are a William H. (b.1866), Harlen M.(also spelled Harlan) (b. 1868) and John F. (b. 1871), and of course my gGrandfather, Elvis M.
Checking one of the World Family Trees, the George Waltman born in 1800 had among his sons John F. (b. 1833), William H. (b. 1843) and Harlen M. (b. 1852). I think my ggGrandfather George named his sons after his brothers.
So, am I on the right track here, or just grasping at straws? The WFT mentioned had no information on "my" George, other than born abt. 1829. If anybody has any information to disprove this or to shed any light I would be very thankful.
