I am looking for any information on the WAMBOLDT family that immigrated from Saratov, Russia in 1875 and ended up in Red Oak, Montgomery Co., Iowa.
I have found that they were on the ship, MOSEL, from Bremen, to N.Y. and arrived on Aug. 23, 1875.Their destination was originally to go to Arkansas.
My ggg-grandfather, Jacob WAMBOLD, b. July, 1821 and wife Sophie (Sophia) b. 1823 came with their children and grandchildren.Their son, Jacob, b. July 1849 and his wife Mary Snyder (Schneider) b. 1848 had her parents living with them in 1880.Their son, my g-grandfather, Peter Samuel, b. Aug. 9, 1872 and d. Oct. 20, 1943, ended up living in Pittsburgh, PA. along with his brothers, Jacob and Andrew. It was noted that both these brothers were born in Iowa.
I am especially interested in learning more about them living in Russia and then why they settled in Iowa.I don't have any information on them other than what I have found in the census records for Iowa.--Debbie
