Thanks Deb for this endorsement of out joint Waring-Plant project. Quite naturally I am leaving it mostly to you Warings to sort out the Waring side of things though we Plants are getting increasingly interested in the Warings (and similar names like de Warenne, Warren, Wareing, Waring, Warring, Wearing, Warin, FitzWarin, etc.). Specifically in connection with the Plant-Waring DNA match that has just been found, it is particularly interesting to us Plants, as it endorses a soundly-based theory that has been outlined for several years at..
This outlines the primary-source evidence for a conection between Plantagenet-like names and Waring-like names. It does not spell out the nature of this connection, as there has not been enough evidence known to me to be able to do so, but the latest DNA match confirms a connection and indeed indicates that the names were related down the male-line. I have just updated this outline explanation with the DNA evidence though ideally the results for more Warings (and similar names) would be desirable to substantiate the evidence for the link further.
Of course, the DNA testing programme on Warings is interesting for the Warings in other ways as well, as Deb has outlined.
