Jerry Warthan, Red River Co., TX
I too believe there is a connection. Entry into the US was Tidewater via north Ireland 1790 so the family tree goes.
The only problem is I loose connection with the tree (someone said they did the research in the 1950's) with my ggranf George Washington Warthan. He's buried(1916) in the Warthan Cemetery in Red River Co.
The problem with the researched tree says G.W. came from Ga. (born in Catoosa Co. GA.Mar 1, 1834)but G.W. says he came from Tuscaloosa AL. both in the Civil War Pension record and the 1870 Federal Census.( might have left Ga. and severed the connection all together, start over in TX) The pension record also indicates he came to Texas Dec 1852.
Found a caln of "Warthen's" in Washington Co. Ga. that has all of the right names and ages , just the spelling is different. The Thomas J., Sylvester and a William are on the census and also in Red River deed records.
So the search continues, maybe someone has additional facts
Regards
Jerry Warthan
