To all persons working on my grandfathers line. I have a publication in my possesion that states the Wass ancestors originally came form Denmark. I have gotten several lines over to England but they have gaps in the information. Would really like to get a correspondence going with someone who could help me fill in the gaps.I also heard that there were three brothers that came over from Scotland but nothing else about them. There is a lot of information in the history of Mathars Vineyard and Boston area that I have been chasing down. I have also found out there are a lot of Wass's in Germany even today. I was told by a lady from Germany that they were driven out of Germany for their religious beliefs. In the publication I have it states that they migrated all through what use to be known as the German Pallatinate. There was also agroup from the Boston group that went to Nova Scotia and there are descedents there now. This group came from my great.... grandfather John Wass. The rest migrated here to Maine with a few out towards Iowa. There are now a few in Arizona and California but there was even some in North or South Dakota and I use to communicate with a Lady in Oklahoma who was married to a Wass and she was finishing up his line. I have lost contact with her but she is the one that sent me the publication. In this booklet it mentions some settlers that had made s settlement like and this ancester burnt down the whole place in the dead of winter even his own house. It says that he was sent back to England but it was not known what happened to him. There only 10000 Wass names in the U.S. and the name is considered endangered. There are actually more descendants than that it's just that they had more girls than boys. Most of the Wass's in the group that migrated up from Boston were seafaring people. Hope this will be of some help to someone and my e-mail is listed. This address is at the college where I'm going to school so if you write and I don't answer right off it will be because I haven't had a chance to look at my mail.
