My connection to the Wass family line starts with Malinda Wass (b. 1856 in IN) who married John D. Alleger in 1874.They lived and died in Monroeville, IN.Malinda's father was Samuel Wass, Jr. (b. 1817 in England).Malinda's mother was Permelia (Eagy) Wass (b. 1819 in PA).Samuel Wass, Jr.'s parents were Rev. Samuel Wass, Sr. (b. 1788 in Derbyshire, Eng.) and Phebe (Ward) Wass (b. 1790 in Devonshire, Eng.).Samuel Wass, Sr.'s parents were Samuel Wass (b. 1754 in Eng. and Elizabeth (Ludlam) Wass. They were married on July 4, 1784 in Derbyshire, Eng.Samuel Wass (b. 1754) died on 2-14-1837 in Derbyshire, Eng.
I have siblings and children of many of these people.
One story that I'd like to prove is that a daughter of Samuel Wass, Jr. and Permelia (Eagy) Wass, also named Permelia Wass (b. 1850 in IN), went "West" to Arizona by herself to work as a "dance hall girl."She supposedly married an Indian.Eventually, she came back to Monroeville, IN, by herself, and lived with her sister and brother-in-law the rest of her life.
If anyone can help prove the story of Permelia; or wants more information on the other people listed, please contact me.
