Further updates. I have been trying to find out more about John Wastell and Ann Mayhew. I have done a chart of the 1500 and 1600 London Wastells and found a possible link to the Northampton Wastells (John and Katherine Wastell) in the early to mid-1600s.This Northampton John was related to the Westmorland Wastells. Two of their sons went and lived in London: Thomas Wastell andWilliam Wastell, who was a mercer. Thomas lost his first wife and children to the Black Death in about 1625. He did marry again and became the vintner of the Mermaid Inn in St. Peter Cornhill. There is a London William Wastell whose children are recorded in IGI at about that time, but no proof it was THIS William from the Northampton line. One of London William's sons (Thomas) married in St. Dunstan, Stepney and appears to be the first Wastell there. However there are big gaps between entries.
