Helen Waycaster - ELIZABETHTON, TN
Mrs. Helen Ruth Medearis Bunton Waycaster, 74, 707 S. Second St., died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Pine Ridge Care Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Waycaster was a Carter County native and a daughter of the late Paul E. and Mary Sims Medearis. She retired from North American Rayon Corp. after 27 years of service. Mrs. Waycaster was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raud Bunton; one son, Ray Bunton; and one brother, Paul Medearis. Survivors include her husband, James C. Waycaster; two sons, Larry Jack Bunton, Johnson City, and William E. Bunton, Elizabethton; one daughter, Dr. Lynda Sue Greene, Elizabethton; one stepson, Phillip Waycaster, Kingsport; two brothers, Glen Medearis, Bristol, and Hal Ben Medearis, Johnson City; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Ruth Medearis Bunton Waycaster, 74, 707 S. Second St., Elizabethton, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Hendrich and Rev. Howard Messer officiating. Music will be by Maria Robles. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Will Andrews, Jason Bunton, David Bunton, Charlie Blevins, Ben Medearis, Randy Waycaster, David Waycaster and Jim Troutman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Loveless, Jeff Clemons, Jim Hawk, Paul Myers, Albert Humphrey, Calvin Hyder, Bob Oliver, Tom Pleasant, Bill Broome, the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Pine Ridge Health Care Center and also her great host of friends. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Oak Street Baptist Church, 804 Oak Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643, or East Side Free Will Baptist Church, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday or at the residence of the children at any time.
