Maryville Times, (Blount Co. TN) Thursday, June 18, 1896:
"Obituary---Fell asleep in Jesus, May 22, 1896, Sarah J. Weagly, aged seventy-seven years, ten months and twenty-three days. She was the daughter of George and Lovina Unger and was born in Franklin Co. Penn., June 29, 1818. Married Jacob Weagly Nov. 9, 1841. For fifty-two years their lives were spent together and many were the trials, sorrows, joys and blessings they shared. Seven sons and three daughters were given them and three sons and two daughters are left. Although deprived of the advantages of an education, she loved to read and few who have had all the advantages have helped and encouraged any more than she has done. For more than fifty years she was a follower of the Lord. Her home cares and the affliction a loved one kept her many times from mingling with the people of God. She often longed to meet with them but never murmured or complained. When sorrow overtook her neighbors they would come to her as to one who would help and comfort and they never came in vain. The past few years she has suffered much pain, much of it in perfect silence and only a few knew of the burden of suffering she was bearing. Her only desire was that the will of her Father should be done. Hers was a triumphant death, a sweet home going. The last words she was heard to say were, “Jesus, blessed Jesus.”---One She Loved.
