In search of the Indian Princess
My wife Deborah, who is related to the Cambria Co. John Weakland Sr. line (although it is an offset of her maternal line)is going t ohave a "family finder" dna test done in search of traces of native american ancestry. Our guess is it has to be between the settlement of Md and the Weakland move to Pennslvania. Also before John Sr.'s birth. beforeWe know her family tree back to John Sr. and her other lines (Durbin, Swope, McMullen, Lovett back to immigrant ancestors, so if there is an indian princess hiding there, MAYBE, this will flush her out as a eprcentage of ancestry. Since this is back between eight and twelve generations to reach the 1640's and settleemnt of MAryland, it is a long shot.
Anyone else had any luck with this?
Love to learn more.
Any info about early pre-pennsylvania Weakland or MAryland Wakelins is appreciated.
Tom
