In Leavitt's book The History of Leeds and Grenville it states that John Weatherhead, the son of Samuel, was an officer in the war of 1812 and later Custom House Officer at Brockville. John Weatherhead took part in the battle of Chrysler's farm. The Weatherhead store near Maitland was plundered by a marauding band of Americans. W.L. Weatherhead of Westport, another son, was a militiaman in the war. Other sons were James and Alexander.
Magdalen Weatherhead was listed in the 1802 patent list for Wolford Township, Grenville county on Concession 3, lot 5, 200 acres, patent granted December 1, 1802. S.Weatherhead et al is listed in the patent list for Edwardsburg township on Concession 1, lot 14, 190 acres, patent granted September 1, 1797. Samuel Weatherhead is also listed on the patent list for Augusta township for 1803 on Concession 3, lot 3, 100 acres, patent datedSeptember 4, 1800.
