William Weeks is an error that was started by Donna Cooper over 8 years ago and has never been corrected. It should actually be William Man which I verified with the Perquimans Co. Deed office some years back.Their number is #252-426-7443.It makes sense that it would be William Man signing the document rather than William Weeks. It is "Test' Thomas Weeks and Anne Weeks."
The assumption that Thomas Esq. descending from Abraham Weekes goes back a long time but has no basis in fact that I have been able to determine other than proximity and a similar name, Thomas. To assume that Thomas at the age of 41 marries for the first time is entirely possible but not probable. That being said however, there are many facts that contradict the assumptions of Thomas Esq. descending from Abraham and Francis.
From a book on Lancaster CO, VA indenture 1738. Thomas Hobbs Weeks of the town and county of Southampton in the Kingdom of Great Britain esquire, Eldest son and heire of HOBBS WEEKES who was the SURVIVING SON of FRANCIS WEEKES...and which FRANCIS WEEKS was the only son and heir of ABRAHAM WEEKES.
By 1738 and before, "HOBBS WEEKES was the SURVIVING SON of fRANCIS WEEKES", which precludes Thomas Esq. from still being alive.
There is a lot of info regarding law suits filed re: the estate of Thomas Hobbs the b/o Elizabeth Hobbs who married Francis Weekes s/o Abraham. One of these suits filed by Mary Parrot Weekes in 1725/6 corroborates the above info.
