Ruth, What information do you have that leads you to believe that Peter Weeter is the son of Christopher Weeter? In the PA Archives for County of Lancaster's militia rolls there are the following for the surname Widder (which you sometimes find Peter signing):Stoffel Widder [correct me if I am wrong but this I believe to be the nickname for Christopher], Abraham Widder, and Lenhard Widder. These are listed in the Muster roll of Capt. George Feathers Company in the Ninth Battalion of Militia of Lancaster county commanded by Col. John Huber for the year 1778.
In the muster roll of Capt. Barnard Gardner's company of the ninth battalion of Lancaster county commanded by Col. John Huber for the year 1778: George Weetter also a couple of men who last name is spelled Witmer [didn't someone in the Weeter family use this spelling?]
I certainly would like to connect Peter to a father and would appreciate your reasoning to Christopher as such.
I did submit a supplemental application to DAR with the service of our ancestor John Over.It hasn't been approved as of yet, but will be willing to help anyone interested in joining DAR using this line.Supplementals take DAR over a year to approve and mine has been there only a few months. John Over has already been approved as a new Patriot for DAR membership, so there should not be any problems.
