I have hit a brick wall. I found my Wehrle's in Kentucky but have not been able to go backward from there to Germany. There are many Wehrle families in and around Lexington, Kentucky.I am certain there is a connection amongst them but have't found it.I hope someone out there is researching some of the Kentucky Wehrle's.The following information is all I have. Hope someone can connect. John B. was a farmer, John Wehrle was a laboror, delivery person and worked for a brewry company in Lexington.
My GGgrandfather was John B. Wehrle b. about 1827 in Baden, Germany, died April 13, 1894 in Lexington, Ky. Buried in Calvery Cemetery He was said to come to this country about 1850. He married Fredreca (Fredrika) Spoehrs or Sprowl b. Wartemberg, Germany June 1829, died September 6, 1902 in Lexington Ky.
They had four children: Johh Wehrle b. about 1850, believed to be Lexington, Ky, m. Mary Catherine Jones (Molly) December 20, 1882 in Lexington. Her parents were William R. Jones and Drucilla Elizabeth Perkins. Marriage announcement in Lexington Paper said "Brides parents lived out on old Richmand Road". These were my great grandparents. (Other children were Francis (Fanny) Wehrle b. 4/1856, Ky; Joseph Wehrle b. June 1863 in Ky; Mayme (Mary) Wehrle b. May 1866 m. Benckart (sp)).
John Wehrle and Mary Catherine had children:Lena Catherine Wehrle,m b. 2/1/1888 in Lexington, M. Frank Milbourn Thompson, they lived in Lexington, had no children.
Son Leslie Ray Wehrle b. 1/12/1886 in Lexington, m. 6/30/1911 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa to Bessie Edith (Elizabeth) Robinson who was b. 9/2/1890 in Albia, Monroe Co, Iowa. Leslie Died December 2, 1923 in Hilt, California. (Leslie had used the names: Alfred Leslie Worley, Orville May and Charlie Brown that we know of. He died as Charles Brown in Hilt, CA)
We have everyone well documented in Lexington but prior to that not much information. Any help would be appreciated. Marilyn Collins-Ratliff
