Among my Wehrle ancestors from Baden there are several with the given name Joseph / Josef. However, I don't find any married to a Schindler. My information is on direct ancestors, so there are quite a few branches that I haven't traced, so there may indeed be more Josephs.
Here's what I have:
Joseph Wehrle b: 25 Feb 1720/21 d: 25 Aug 1800m: 4 May 1751 to Anna Weis
They had 3 sons named Joseph. As was customary in families of that region, when a child died in infancy, the next child of the same sex was given the name of the deceased child.Joseph Wehrle (first) was born and died in 1769.Joseph Wehrle (second) was born 3 May 1771 and died in 1773.Joseph Wehrle (third) was born 2 Aug 1773 and died 30 Mar 1865.He married 30 Dec 1800 to Maria Schneider.
Their oldest son was Joseph Wehrle b: 23 Jan 1803; death date unknown. He married 16 Aug 1824 to Maria Barbara Wangler. She died 29 July 1835 and he married 26 Nov 1835 to Genofeva Wehrle (she was a distant cousin).
Joseph Wehrle and Maria Barbara Wangler had a son Josef Wehrle b: 23 Aug 1825; death date unknown. He married 22 Sep 1859 to Theresia Fischer. They had two daughters, no sons.
There are no more Joseph Wehrles in my records.
This Wehrle family lived (and many descendants still live) in the Simonswald Valley which is about 50 km northeast of Freiburg im Bresgau. There are other Wehrle families in other sections of Baden (the present state of Baden-Württemburg, Germany).
