I was contacted about a post that I had placed on an ALabama list. I was told that the Wehunt's and the McCarter's who lived in Winston Co. AL during the 1920's were kin. The lady did not know anything more than what her dad had told her and could not be of more help at the time. The McCarter's in 1920 Winston Co. were... Charlie 42 MS, John 16 MS, Ruby 13 MS, Willie 11 MS, & Robert 7 MS. McCarters on the death index: Robert E. Oct 22, 1913- June 1993, Floyd Nov.1920-1987, & Lois W. McCarter July 28,1916-Feb 15,1998. Could Lois have been a Wehunt? I can't find her anywhere else. My David Wehunt was from GA, born ca 1844;he moved to AL from GA in 1924. Some of my folks say that He had moved to Texas once, but no one knows for sure. I can not find him in 1880 or 1910. The rest of the time he was in GA. Some of the McCarter's that were in MS seem to have had ties in Texas. One other Wehunt was living in Winston co. in 1920, but I could not tell where he was from. His name was Manuel Wehunt. I suspected that he may have been a grandson or nephew to my David. Davids children were: John, William, Mary, David Monroe, & Emma. I have no clue as to where Mary, William or John went to. William may have become a preacher. D.Monroe ran a Cotton Mill in GA. One of his children became a State Patrol officer; another was the Sheriff in Canton GA. Grandma Emma and my family farmed. In short...does anyone know if a Wehunt married a McCarter in TX, MS,GA or AL?
