Weidenhamer - with a line over the "h" which meant a double "mm".
A line over an "h" would have meant a double "hh".The line was over the "m" meaning a double "mm". In German a line over a letter means a Double consonant. The German's of course knew this but the English did not. So when official documents were written in english the line above the "m" was ignored and the name was written WeidenHAMER.Some Weidenhammer's excepted this and thus the change in the name. I have pictures of tombstones with a line over the "m'.
