I was in Gettysburg last momth 12-03 and toured the George Weikert House have pictures of inside and out. The friend I was with is a decendant of G Weikert. When we got to the house the Park Ranger that lives there was just coming back and I told him that she was a decendant, he asked her some questions which she answered properly and he asked us inside. Did you know that the fireplace in the living room caught fire in 1887 and in the rebuilding it was removed. From the outside it looked like a huge house but inside it was very small. The stairs looked like they were built for a child and the ceiling hung very low on the staircase we had to duck when going to the second floor. From what I heard of them talking about the Weikerts, George's wife's name was Catherine, or at least her middle name. Diane knows the whole story of the Weikerts of PA. Her whole family lived with a mile of each other on the Battlefield and she remembers visiting those houses when she was a little girl. Hope this has helped you some.
