I completely forgot about this. But the name Sauer rang a bell with me, and I did a little research. Are you related to Michael Sauer by chance?I was in contact with him last January, and he provided quite a bit of info on the Weiland siblings from Germany. He is also related to Elizabeth Weiland, she is his gg-grandmother.He had an aunt who kept very good records who had passed away in 1983.This aunt was also very good friends with Franziska Weiland's (Franz' daughter) daughter Francis Useldinger who married a John Keller.
He sent me copies of letters from Margaretha Kuder nee Weiland, that she sent to Elizabeth from Germany. Also, Margaretha did not have children, so she left her estate to her brothers/sisters and their children.I have a copy of her will along with the letters I have mentioned. The will lists all of her brothers/sisters and their children. They are as follows:
Elisabeth Weiland who married Mathias Sauer and lived in Minot Ward, North Dakota.Their children are: George, Peter, Margaretha, Joseph, Elisabetha, Johann Mathias, and Franz Kilian.
Marie Weiland (who was deceased as of 1893) who married Peter Jaeger and lived in Nieder-Roden.Their children were: Elisabeth Jaeger who married Jakob Merget and lived in Groshausen, and Peter Jaeger a day worker in Nieder-Roden.
Joseph Weiland (who was deceased as of 1893) who lived in Nieder-Roden.His children were Peter Weiland, Margaretha, and Elisabeth, all living in Nieder-Roden.
Franz Weiland and his children were Nickolaus, Phillipp, Franziska, and "N.N. 5 years old".This is how it is put into her will.
Nickolaus Weiland who was a day worker in Nieder-Roden and unmarried as of 1893.He is also the godfather to Franz' son Nicholas who lived in Polk County, MN.This is who we are related to.Its my husband's family.
Jakob Weiland who was deceased as of 1893.He had one son who was living in a mental institution in Hessen. She disinherited him in the will.
So together with Margaretha, that makes 7 children all together for Johannes Weiland.Another thing, I have 2 marriage records for Johannes. Not sure if they are the same person, but I'm guessing they are.First marriage record has him marrying Katharina Rohrig in 5/1828 in Nieder-Roden.Then I have the marriage record for him and Margaritha Keller in 5/1837.This second one lists him as being a widower, but does not list his parents, so I'm only about 99% sure it is the same person.
If you are interested in copies of these letters and will, I would be happy to send them to you.Just let me know what your e-mail address is and I'll forward them to you.
