Thanks very much.I have Bithia's birthdate as May 12, 1852 at The Tan House, Whitwell.I thought she was Samuel's youngest daughter, but if the above birthdate is correct and if Matilda was born in 1853, then I guess not!
Bithia died November 21, 1940, in Whitwell and is buried at All Saints Church, St. Paul's Walden. She married very young to James Francis Tooley on August 26, 1869 and she lived next door at Mill Farm until she died.
A Will Wellingham attended the funeral.Likely he was the William John you mention. I didn't notice any Wymans, but will look through some other information I have.
I gather Bithia was a tiny little lady, but she bore 6 sons and 6 daughters and I believe three more may have been adopted (wow!)Bithia was friendly with the young Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mum (before she became the Queen Mum, of course!) I have her photo plus obituary from the Luton News, which I will pass along to you via e-mail, along with a photo of Mary Ann's sampler.
