I would be very grateful for any information about any of the following. They all performed in various Victorian circuses in the UK:
Wells, Adolphus. Equestrian. At Henry and Adams Circus Bradford in 1868, a juvenile rider with other members of the Wells family. Also at Hengler's Circuses, Glasgow in 1869, and Liverpool in 1870. Appeared with Louise Wells, probably his sister."
"Wells, Albert. Equestrian. Noted at Tom Culeen's circus and Newsome's circus, in the 1880s.
"Wells, Billy. Hard-headed man. With Barnum and Bailey's circus Hereford 1899, allowing planks to be broken over his head."
"Wells, Emily Jane. Equestrienne. Hengler's Circuses, Liverpool and Sheffield 1859-60. Later at Bell's Circus Liverpool in 1862, as leaper and rider."
"Wells, John. Equestrian and circus proprietor. Acting manager of Henderson's Circque Ipswich in 1867, when John Henderson died. In 1868 J Wells was with Henry and Adam's circus Bradford, with other members of the distinguished Wells family, including master Adolphus Wells. Died 18/9/1880. Son John born about 1845 still alive in 1924."
