Bless you my child! I think he's mine! Two branches of my family have a story of the "Windle millions". The other branch had more details including the fact that John Windle was connected with John Jacob Astor and may have had something to do with the fur trade. John Windle was born in Ireland sometime in the late 1700's and was supposedly shipwrecked off Cape Breton. There were alledgedly three Windles-one who disappeared, Thomas (Robert) who went to New Brunswick, Canada and John who moved on to the U.S. If this is the same family, there were children. I was told someone in our family left their money to the church but maybe it was to cats. I have found no other family members who had enought money to leave anyone so this may well be who I am looking for. By the way, Windle is often mis-spelled Wendle/Wendle and my aunt always pronounced it as Wendle rather than Windle. I would so love it if you can give me anymore information. Thank you very much.
