Kohler, Charles, father of Prof. Franklin Kohler, was born in Allen township, Northampton Co Aug 27, 1827. He married April 8, 1848 to Anna Elisabeth Werkheiser who was born May 8, 1828, d/o Charles Werkheiser of Plainfield twp. Children; James born 1849, Diana, Louisa, Peter, Harrison John, Sarah, Emma Augusta, Charles, George August, and Franklin

Prof. Kohler married Sept 29, 1893 at Gilbert, to Ida M. Beer, a native of Chestnut Hiil, d/o Philip and Elisabeth (Green) Beer and granddaugher of Solomon and Elisabeth (Shook) Beer and great-granddaughter of Isaac Beer, one of the earliest settlers of Carbon Co. Solomon Beer, the latter's son, was born in 1814. He died in 1890. His wife Elisabeth (Shook) died in 1849, aged 35, and was buried at Jerusalem Ch, Carbon Co. Children of Solomon and Elizabeth Beer were; Mary A. married William Moyer, Joel married Catharine Kiber, Philip father of Mrs. Kohler, Linfer married Julia Ann Smith, Peter married E. Moyer, Christina married Simon Reimer of Perrysville, Jacob married Amelia Jones and they lived in Kresgeville, Susanna died young, Hiram of Lehigh Co and Elisabeth wf of James Moyer
