In my internet research, I have found refernces in the Latter Day Saints Ancestral Files (www.familysearch.org), and on the World Connect (www.rootsweb.com) about a Stukeley Westcott (also, various alternative spellings of the name). This particular Stukeley was reportedly born between about 1688 and 1694 in Rhode Island. His parents were reportedly Jeremiah Westcott "Jr." and his wife, Mary Warner (or Mary Gorton Warner???).Some researchers state that this Stukeley married a woman named Freelove, maiden name unknown, possibly around 1706-1710 in Rhode Island. As far as I can find, however, no one lists any children for this couple.Nor does anyone offer even an estimated date of death.
I am exploring the possibility that this couple might have had a daughter, born between about 1716 to 1736, first name unknown, who MIGHT have married a man named Whitford in Rhode Island sometime between about 1734 and 1757.This couple named a son Stukely Whitford, born in 1758.This Stukeley Whitford did service during the American Revolution and moved to New York, where he appeared in the 1790 census in Caughnawaga Town of Montgomery County (indexed on Heritage Quest as "Storsly Witford").By 1810, he was in Milford Town of Otsego County, NY (S. Whitford), was still there for the 1820 census (Stukely Whitford) and died there in 1835, leaving descendants.I am working on a theory that he was named for his maternal grandfather. After looking at various men named Stukeley, primarily Westcott and Stafford, to date, after eliminations based on reasonable evidence, I am down to this Stukeley Westcott, born abt 1688-1694.
Does anyone know if this Stukeley Westcott (and wife Freelove MNU) had children?Any daughters?Does anyone have names, dates, locations, etc. for any of his descendants?Did he leave a Last Will by any chance? Is he on any tax lists or a party to any land transactions? If anyone has any information whatsoever about possible children of this Stukeley Westcott, please contact me directly at email@example.com.
