I am related to all the Westendorf's that landed in Cincinnati, OH and settling in the town of Lockland, which had a lock on the canal system from Lake Erie to Cincinnati. The reason I am interested about the IOWA relation happen in the 1960's while camping with my children on our way west on vacation. Without expressways, we drove through many towns and noticed many Westendorf names, some of which was a doctor and another a auto service owner. My Grandfather was in the grocery busness and was one of the members starting a building and loan in Lockland. My father, Joseph A.,and brother were also grocers. We all worked in the stores and I opened an IGA supermarket in a Kmart center. Later opened a Piggly Wiggly supermarket in Fairfield, OH. With marketing all going to the Supers stores, all stores are gone now. Have a good life Peggy.
