Thank you, Linda. My WESTLAKE heritage as I currently understand it can be accessed through my website at http://hometown.aol.com/wilenesmth/index.htmlhttp://hometown.aol.com/wilenesmth/index.html scrolling down to the SHAFER / HITCHINGS Family File, then searching from there.
Everyone who descends from William Burroughs WESTLAKE (1831-1897) will want to check out this website -- http://www.wyomingconference.org/Wyoming/The_Voice/Historical.htmlhttp://www.wyomingconference.org/Wyoming/The_Voice/Historical.html as it includes some very special and unique information about him. Wayne Bigley has the only genealogy that I could find online that includes a William WESTLAKE b. in 1831 http://www.waynebigley.com/gen/fam00641.htmhttp://www.waynebigley.com/gen/fam00641.htm Wayne's WESTLAKE genealogy traces this William back to George WESTLAKE, a brother of my Samuel WESTLAKE (ca. 1721 - ca. 1796).Judging by this, I apparently have only a remote connection to the WESTLAKE Methodist ministers.
Rachel WESTLAKE SHAFER's mother is said to be Sarah BURRIS and I'm finding evidence of early Methodist ministers by that name, too, who also appear to be "same time, same place," but not enough additional information to work with regarding them.
Another helpful website for anyone with a more direct connection than I appear to have is The Methodist Archives and History Center of the United Methodist Church at http://www.gcah.org/center.htmhttp://www.gcah.org/center.htm
