My records of the Westwood family go back to Harborne but instead of Manchester they moved to Sheffield via Northfield which is not far away from Harborne. My tree goes back to John Westwood b.1788 who married Elizabeth Gray b.1794 in 1815. Their children were all christened in Harborne. Their names are Sarah, Ann, Elizabeth, Martha, Eli, Kezia, David, Louisa, Caroline, Alfred, Rebecca & Frederick b.1836[my ggg grandfather]. I have no birth dates other than Frederick as yet.
I believe that John farmed 125 acres in Shenley Court [now the site of Shenley Court School]but by the 1851 census had returned to Harborne where he owned an alehouse called 'The Woodman'.
I have found mention of Abraham Westwood, who was the local haulier at the time that Harborne Hall was built but have not established any links as yet.
Frederick moved to Sheffield but I am not sure when. He married Sarah Simpson, widow, nee Squires in 1865.
Samuel must have been related to my Westwoods. I am anxious to take my tree back further and am very keen to hear from you.
