Alexander Chapman"Chap" Young was born 7 Sept 1821 in Warren County, Ky.His parents were Mathew Young Jr. (was born in South Carolina but migrated with his family (as well as his father's) to Warren County around 1805. He settled on the waters of Indian Creek (which now divides the Anna and Richardsville communities).
"Chap" Young's first marriage was to Harriet Floyd (on 13 Mar 18489.She was the daughter of Enoch and Susan (Lee) Floyd.Enoch owned much landin Warren and Edmonson counties and had been a Warren County justice ofhte peace (magistrate).At lease five children were born to "Chap" and Harriet:
Gentry (b. ca 1848/49), married Polly Ann Milliagan:Alfred (1852-1929), married Polly Ann Floyd and Emma Massey; John Wesley (b. 15 May 1855), married La Connia Whalin; Mary C. "Sis" (b. ca 1859) married John Grable, moved to Missouri; and Henry A. (b. ca 1861.
In 1880 or 1881 Harriet passed away.Her place of burial is unknown but would seem to be the Sandhill cemetery (her parents were buried there or Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (where Cap is buried).On 28 Nov 1881,Mr. Young took as his second wife Mary (Mollie) D. "Duckie" Basham (b. 1855 Warren County).Her parents were Job D. and Nancy (Wilson) Basham.Job was a native of Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
Five children were born to A.C. and Mary: Nettie (b. 1882), married Emory Reeder and Dick Love; Hollie Everett (1885-1950), married Josie Doolin; Lester (1887-1953), married Helen Jones; Lonnie (1891-1934, married twice, a World War I veteran; and Grace (193-1954), married later Strange and Hubert Jones.
Alexander Chapman Young was a farmer in the Anna community of Warren County.His farm was owned by his heirs for well over 100 years.In 1962 Austin Raymer purchased the farm from the estate of James Dee and Carrie (Young) Davis.
Mr. Young was a member of the Mt. Pleasent Church of Christ.He served teh church as a deacon. He died 26 Jan 1893 and is burried in the church cemetery (near the "Floyd" row).After his death, Mollie D. (or "Duckie" as she was known) married Lewis Murphy.The had no issue.Mollied D. died 7 May 1934 and is also buried int he Mt.
