Chuck, I wish to forward your email address to my parents who have been doing much of the research I have referred to in my other mailings.I need to know which email to use...it seems that my previous mailing of this message did not arrive in your mailbox.
John Knox, Nancy Ann Whallon's 1st husband was the first school teacher at the "Science Hall School."Are you familiar with this school? We are looking for any information about it's whereabouts. There should be some history of it in Hamilton County. We've had no luck thusfar.
I found a picture of the Whallon home on the internet, and have downloaded some of the original blueprints of the home...this should fascinate my dad, as he's a retired civil engineer!Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner myself, but things have gotten really complicated here, so please bear with me in my responses, if not replied to as expeditiously as I would prefer them to be.
Here's my lineage as it appears:
James Whallon & (Sarah) Elizabeth Smith James Whallon & Alley Hageman Nancy Ann Whallon & John Knox Joseph Addison Knox & Elmira Cable Nancy Ann Knox & John Adam Hoesman Blanche Hoesman & Albert Highlen Joan Highlen & Louis Bohrman My father and mother Andrew Bohrman
Here's the possible sequence of events that we have put together:
21JAN1788 Samuel Vance Roll is born to Abraham & Prudence Roll in Hamilton County, OH.
179? John Knox is born in New Jersey
30SEP1798 Nancy Ann Whallon is born to James and Alley Whallon in New Jersey.
180? The Whallon family moves to Ohio and lives on Winton Road in Hamilton County, OH.
1818 John Knox move to Hamilton County to teach at The Science Hall School, and boards with the Whallon family on Winton Road.
11NOV1819 John Knox and Nancy Ann Whallon elope while James and Alley Whallon are back in New Jersey seeing family.(James Whallon did not approve of the marriage, as John Knox was a teacher, and not a farmer.)
01MAY1821 Joseph Addison Knox is born to John and Nancy Ann Knox.
1828 John Knox dies leaving Nancy Ann Whallon Knox a widow.
19JUL1832 John Adam Hoesman is born
02OCT1834 Nancy Ann Whallon Knox marries Samuel Vance Roll.
11MAR1839 Levina W. Roll is born to Nancy and Samuel Roll.
02FEB1844 Joseph Addison Knox marries Elimra Cable.
17MAR1845 Nancy Ann Knox is born to Joseph and Elmira Knox.
17MAR1859 John Adam Hoesman marries Levina Roll. When did Levina die?(My parents are checking Mercer County, OH records)
21APR1867 Nancy Ann Knox marries John Adam Hoesman.
12OCT1884 Blanche Hoesman is born to Nancy Ann and John Adam Hoesman.
10MAY1897 John Adam Hoesman dies.
Under this understanding of events John Adam Hoesman married 2 women. #1 Levina Roll, a child of Nancy Whallon Knox Roll (in her second marriage) #2 Nancy Ann Knox, a grandchild of Nancy Whallon Knox (in her first marriage)
#1 was born in 1839 #2 was born in 1845
John Adam was born in 1832 so his age is compatible with both marriages and the likelihood of Levina and Nancy Ann knowing each other is very likely. It is easy to assume that he would have known Mary Ann during his marriage to Levina, and he as a widower came to love and marry her.It is a variation on a man marrying his sister-in-law after the death of his wife.
