Col. Don D. Ezell, USMC Retired of Ft. Worth, Texas, died at about 7:00 P.M., 17 July, in a local hospital.Ezell was 89 years of age. Ezell served his country as a Marine Corps Officer during three dwars.He served at Okanawa and other action in the Pacific during World War II.When the Korean Conflict broke out, Ezell was recalled, thus interrupting a promising coaching career.Deciding to make a career in the Corps, Ezell served two tours in Viet Nam as the commander of the 11th Marines (artillery) and the 1st. Marines. Don, his twin Dee, as well as brothers Beeky and Jeff, all starred in athletics a little Wink High School in Texas.Jeff, the older brother, played at St. Mary's and the younger three all played at Texas Christian University,' Ezell was a descendant of Phineas Whatley who migrated tocentral Louisiana from Georgia in 1806.His great-grandfathers were John Mercer Whatley, and Dr. Jefferson Ezell both of Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. Services, with complete military honors, will be held at 10:30 A.M., saturday 27 July at Greenwood Cemetery, Ft. Worth.
